NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE PICKS

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is now in full swing. It started July 17th and will end August 2nd.  There were many beauty exclusives that caught my attention while browsing the catalog online, so I paid a visit to my local store for Early Access. Like most consumers, I love a great value. I found a few items that fit this description perfectly. Many things seem to be selling out fairly quickly, so I would recommend that you order online or head over to your local store for a visit soon.

One of the very first things to catch my eye was the exclusive lip pencil kits by Nars. Two variations were available at the counter; The Ultimate Nars lip pencil set, which contains a range of blushing nudes and the True Nars lip pencil kit, which features brighter, bolder colors. I chose the latter because I personally love rocking bright lips in the summer and felt that one of the other colors included in the set (the limited edition Provocative Red) would be a great color to use as I transition into fall.

The set includes two Satin Lip pencils in the colors Yu (shocking pink) and Luxembourg (vivid watermelon) and one limited edition Velvet Matte Lip pencil in Provocative Red (a fuchsia rose) It also includes a pencil sharpener and comes in a mirrored case to hold the pencils. I have worn the color Luxembourg a few times since I’ve purchased the set and I have found it to be pigmented, smooth and hydrating. Additionally, the wear typically lasts me about 5-6 hours which is a plus. The packaging is also absolutely beautiful. The lip pencils retail for $26 USD regularly. This particular set retails for $49 USD. A great value in my book!

Another Nordstrom Beauty exclusive that I picked up is the ‘Blame it on NARS’ Cheek palette. The palette includes 4 shades to highlight, color and sculpt and is also paired with a mini Kabuki Ita brush. The palette includes a highlighting blush in the color Satellite of Love, two blush colors in the colors Day Dream and New Attitude and finally a bronzing powder in the color Casino.

I currently do not own any of these colors. I missed out on purchasing Satellite of Love when it was available, so I was happy to find out that this particular set included it. I have been a fan of Nars’ blush products for quite some time now. I have a couple of their other blush palettes such as the Danmari and Guy Bourdin palettes and this is yet another beautiful addition to my collection. The set is housed in a slim, beautifully packaged, and mirrored case that is travel friendly. The Blame it on Nars blush palette retails for $59 USD.

I almost missed out on the YSL Rock Attitude Glossy Stain set. I will admit that I am partial to YSL products. I love the packaging of this luxurious brand and quite seldom do their products disappoint, in my opinion. It was not available at the first store I visited during Early Access, because it had sold out. I was able to locate it at another store and it was the last one left. It was meant to be! The set includes: Glossy Stain Classic No. 7 (Corail Aquatique full coverage gloss), Glossy Stain Pop Water No. 204 (Onde Rose sheer color gloss) and Glossy Stain Plump Up No. 200 (hyaluronic enriched sheer color) The set also includes a shiny, red, zippered cosmetics bag.

What I particularly like about this set is that it includes 3 shades that I find very flattering. It offers a color for full coverage as well as a sheer cover finish. I’m most excited to try the Glossy Stain Plump Up which boasts a hyaluronic acid enriched formula. Hyaluronic acid by the way, is not like what it sounds–it’s a powerful moisture binding ingredient that is often touted for its plumping and hydrating properties. The Glossy Stains initially look and feel like a watery consistency upon application, but it soon transforms and sets into a rich stain that I’ve found to last for hours. Application tip: apply one coat on the center of the lips and brush towards the outer corner. Another tip that I would suggest is to apply the glossy stain like you would when painting your nails. Add a coat, wait a minute, and then add another. I have found that this is the best way to apply the stain and strengthen the colors’ longevity.

I also picked up Fresh’s Limited Edition Rose Face Mask. The packaging was designed by artist Jo Ratcliffe in honor of the product’s 15th year anniversary. It is not an Anniversary Sale exclusive; however, I bought it after inquiring if it was available at the Fresh counter. The counter also offered a free gift with purchase at the time which included a cute Fresh bag and deluxe size samples. I felt so ever inclined. I will feature the product later in a skincare routine post.

Have you picked up anything from the Anniversary Sale? Are you planning on picking anything up from the sale? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Best,
Dom
