Christian Louboutin recently launched 38 shades of Louboutin Lipsticks in three different formulas—-Velvet Matte, Silky Satin, and Sheer Voile. Each tube is exquisitely packaged in a luxe red and black jewelry box. Additionally, each lipstick bullet is intricately and ornately patterned and is inspired by Babylonian architecture. These lipsticks also double as a charm that can be worn around the neck, and resemble the shape of a vial. Each lipstick comes at a hefty price tag at $90 each, however one look at this gloriously beautiful work of art and one swipe of the formula, you will realize that good things rarely come cheap. If you’re a makeup junkie, like myself, you will find yourself justifying your purchase of “just one more lipstick” to add to your collection.
Above is an image of the Velvet Matte Lip Colour in Rouge Louboutin. The tube comes in a matte black finish and is capped with a beautiful crown that is red on the inside, much like the red soles on Louboutin heels.This fine detail made me immediately swoon! Each lipstick formula has a different exterior finish. While the Velvet Mattes have a decidedly matte exterior, the Silky Satins have a glossy finish, while the Sheer Voiles have an intricately patterned weave.
I purchased two lipsticks in the color Rouge Louboutin in both the Matte and Silky Satin finish online. Without an opportunity to swatch the lipsticks inside a store, I felt that choosing two variations of red would be a safe bet, and I was right! The color, texture and formula is top notch. It is extremely pigmented and the texture feels silky on my lips. I have only had a chance to wear it for half a day, so this post will not be an in-depth review but rather my first impressions. According to the Sephora website, the lipsticks are formulated with natural oils and seed butters which enhance moisture. The lipstick provided an opaque finish that did not feel drying whatsoever and glided on very smoothly. It has a slightly sweet floral scent that I did not find to be the least off-putting. It really is such a gorgeous, sultry red that I think will look universally flattering on any skin tone! I feel confident in recommending that this is the color to buy if you’re yearning to purchase just one.
Christian Louboutin has certainly taken the art of lipstick to a whole new level. From the luxurious packaging, to the ornate details and the top notch formula, It has far exceeded my expectations and I am in love! I will most likely find myself justifying another purchase in the near future–and I have a feeling that I am not alone.
