Beauty Travel Picks: Makeup & Skincare

Today I wanted to write about beauty picks for travel in the makeup and skincare category. I will be traveling to San Francisco for the weekend to visit my best friend so I thought this would be an appropriate and fun post to write about. A few months ago, my friend Victoria and I created a series of collaborative posts on our Instagram pages for items that we thought we could potentially bring  with us during our travels. If you are a beauty addict like myself, you have probably acquired many deluxe samples and free gift with purchase items throughout the year. And if  you’re a Beauty Insider with Sephora, you’ve probably also redeemed your points for your favorite beauty perks. I’ve amassed quite a bit of these beauty perks and deluxe samples through the many beauty offerings from Sephora,  Nordstrom, and other retailers. They are the perfect size for travel and when the opportunity arises, I put them to good use! Today’s blog post will feature what I actually packed with me on my travels as well as some examples of makeup and skincare minis that I hope you will find helpful.

MAKEUP

This past summer, I traveled to Miami, Florida. Pictured above is an assortment of items that I brought with me on my trip. I always tend to overpack when it comes to the makeup category. This is because I want a variety of items available to create different looks from daytime to evening. I brought MAC’s Pro Long Wear Waterproof foundation and Chanel’s CC cream in  anticipation of the hot, humid Miami weather as well as Tarte’s Clay Showstopper palette which conveniently houses your eyeshadows, blush, bronzer and highlighter all-in-one. I also brought an assortment of brightly colored lipsticks, such as MAC’s Relentlessy Red, which is one of my favorite colors to wear in the summer. Finally, I  brought several stains and glosses. (Not all of them are pictured here)

MAKEUP MINIS

Pictured above are examples of some makeup minis that are wonderfully compact and fit very nicely in my makeup bag and purse. I tried to pick out an item from each category such as primer, concealer, foundation, lipstick, eyeshadow, etc. Many of these items were deluxe samples that I acquired using a promo code on Sephora’s website with my online purchase. Other items I received by redeeming my Beauty Insider points. How adorable are the Marc Jacobs lipstick minis?

SKINCARE

Pictured above is an assortment of skincare items that I brought with me to Miami in July. I am very diligent about wearing sunscreen religiously (you can read my very first blog post about the importance of sunscreen here) and so I brought an assortment of items that I purchased mostly through Sephora’s Sun Safety Kit. For cleansers, I brought Fresh Beauty’s Soy Face Cleanser and another from the brand First Aid Beauty. May I mention that some of these items were also used by my boyfriend, so I made sure we had enough between the two of us. I almost always include some sort of treatment mask that I can use on the go, such as Glam Glow’s PowerMud Dual Cleanse treatment mask.

SKINCARE MINIS

Pictured above is an assortment of travel friendly skincare minis that I posted to my Instagram page a few months ago. Many of these items were received through online offerings from Sephora and free gift with purchases from Nordstrom and Saks. I do not always bring my Clarisonic with me on my travels.  If you are considering trying out a Clarisonic for the first time, I would recommend the Mia, which is a great starter kit. It helps to clean your skin six times more effectively than with using your hands manually. If you’re interested in how I use the Clarisonic, you can read about my skincare routine here.

BRUSHES & TOOLS

Finally, I can’t forget about the brushes and tools I need for travel. Pictured above is the Pocket Professionals Mini Airbrush set which I recently purchased. It originally retailed for $75 and when I found it on sale on Sephora’s website for $50 I quickly snatched it up. The quality of the Sephora Pro line is superb. I have many brushes from this line in their full size counterparts such as the Sephora Pro Airbrush #55 which is one of my favorites. The brushes are well made, do not shed and are beautifully cinched in chrome. This set includes a powder/foundation brush, a concealer and shadow brush and finally, an angled brow and brow comb duo. It includes a travel-friendly zippered pouch. Another one of my favorite brushes from Sephora is their Classic Multi-tasker brush, #45 . I picked up a mini of this brush that was available in the Beauty -to- Go section at Sephora.  I also found some travel containers on on their site that were at a steal at $1 each! These containers are great for housing your shampoo, conditioner, creams and lotions and meet TSA requirements.

Above is an assortment of my full size Sephora Pro brushes. I packed these items with me while traveling to Hawaii earlier this year.
