Tom Ford Fall 2015 Swatches & Review

The Tom Ford Fall 2015 Collection launched recently. I’ve picked up a few items along the way and today I’ll be sharing my picks, swatches, as well as my overall review. The first item I picked up was the gorgeous Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Duo in Moodlight. It is a powder duo that comes in a large compact with two beautiful shades. According to the official description on the website, the first shade is a soft white shade to mimic the luminous glow of daylight and the second is a radiant golden peachy shade to mimic the illusion of candlelight.  The duo can be applied individually or layered together to create a multidimensional glow. Verdict:

I am in love with this gorgeous limited-edition piece. Not only is is beautifully packaged and textured, it is very smooth and easy to blend. I have used the colors alone and I’ve also layered them. It gives my medium -toned skin (I wear the Tom Ford Traceless foundation in #5 for reference)  a very subtle and  radiant, soft iridescent glow and I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. If there is only one thing that you decide to get from the Tom Ford Fall collection, this is it! It is worth the splurge. The Tom Ford Illuminating Duo retails for $80 and can be purchased from Nordstrom and Nieman Marcus.

Next up is the Tom Ford Eye & Cheek Shadow. It is officially described as a multipurpose ombre powder that offers a visionary new way to add color the face. Additionally, it’s described as a powder that is infused with light catching pearls to create dimension for  the eyes and sculpt the cheeks. Each one came with a small applicator brush. I currently own one Tom Ford blush in the color Wicked, which I find impressive, so when these first appeared on Nordstrom’s website, I excitedly placed  an order for the Eye and Cheek Shadows in the colors Pink Ombre and Peach Ombre which I presumed would be the safest bet and the most flattering on my medium toned skin. In terms of its size comparison, the Eye and Cheek shadows measure 0.15 oz in comparison to a full sized Tom Ford Blush which measures o.28 oz. Kindly scroll for more product images, swatches and my overall verdict.

Verdict:

The Eye and Cheek shadows did not meet my expectations in terms of performance and quality. They are poorly pigmented and barely show up on my medium-toned skin. In fact, the swatches you see above were created after I applied layers upon layers of the product. Otherwise, one swipe barely showed up on my skin. The small brush applicator included poorly picked up any product. It did not transfer product onto my skin though the brush appeared to pick up color from the pan. For the hefty price of $65, I was expecting  a lot more. This item was unfortunately a let down for me.

Finally, I selected two Tom Ford lipstick colors from the offerings available for fall. Many of the 16 colors that were released were colors that were part of the Lips and Boys collection last year. According to the official description, each lip color contains rare and exotic ingredients such as soja seed extract, Brazilian murmuru butter and chamomile flower oil to create an ultra-creamy texture. I had a chance to try out all the colors while visiting the Tom Ford Neiman Marcus counter in San Francisco earlier this month. I picked out the colors Bare Peach and Something Wild. Bare Peach was once only an Asia Exclusive. It is a medium peach color with a hint of silver. I would describe Something Wild as a medium coral pink. Both colors impart a satiny, shimmery finish. The new lipstick colors released will now be a part of the permanent line up. Scroll below for more images, swatches and my overall verdict.

Verdict:

The color saturation, pigmentation and creamy texture is what I’ve come to love and expect from Tom Ford’s line of lipsticks. They glide on easily and there is no tugging on the lips. The color is not only pigmented, but wears comfortably for several hours. I’ve come to love the subtle vanilla scent and the shimmery finish these colors impart. I am going to add them to my Fall lipstick line up.  Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you found this post informative.
