With the ending of another month comes another roundup of beauty favorites. Today I have some favorites to share with you in the makeup, skincare, fragrance and nail category. Some of these items were old favorites that I rediscovered while looking through my beauty stash, while others were recently acquired items that I instantly fell in love with. Scroll below for more details.
MAKEUP
My favorites in the makeup category this month included an eclectic mix of palettes. I rediscovered my Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow palette which contains beautiful rose-toned hues. The colors are pigmented and have great lasting power, especially coupled with the line’s 24/7 Eye Primer. Another palette that I’ve used quite frequently since I purchased it, is Tarte’s Bling it On Amazonian Clay palette, reviewed here. It is very pigmented and blends beautifully. I hit the pan on the first edition that was released and there’s a possibility that this may happen again with this one. Another palette favorite is the Ambient Edit Palette by Hourglass. I simply love the all-in-one features, and despite its size, it is travel friendly and compact enough to fit in my makeup bag. I have used this palette several times as evidenced by my makeup of the day posts on Instagram.
We have now transitioned into fall from summer, however, I held onto summer as much as I could this month by utilizing an array of highlighters. I am loving the Anastasia Beverly Hills So Hollywood illuminator; swatched and reviewed here, and my most recently acquired YSL Palette Lumiere Divine, which is most similar to the Starlight Illuminator from ABH. And who can say no to limited edition packaging? If you’re interested in swatches, you can find it here.
Some other favorites include the Tarteist Clay liner, which is so incredibly deep and rich in color and stays put; the YSL Couture Kiss and Love Edition lipstick in Black Red, swatched here, and my Gucci Eyeshadow quad in Tuscan Storm, which is a perfect blend of neutral colors.
Finally, I absolutely adore the Christian Louboutin Lipsticks that launched in early September. The packaging is second to none (as my friend Susie from Blushed and Bronzed puts it) and it is incredibly pigmented, long wearing, and creamy. You can find swatches of the colors I picked up here if you’re interested.
SKINCARE
My skin has been needing a bit of TLC this month. I would attribute this need as a result of stress and staying up odd hours of the night to finish my assignments for grad school. It has certainly taken a toll. One skincare favorite that I’ve been relying on this month is Ole Henriksen’s three step Power Peel. It comes with easy to follow instructions and disposable packets that I can simply use and toss away, which is very convenient, especially if you’re pressed for time. No need for using my spatula or finding my mixing bowl. It helps to scrub away impurities and to smooth my skin texture. My skin always feels and looks noticeably brighter after I use this. Depending on my skin’s needs, I will pick out a mask to target and treat my skin concerns and this mask has brought back vitality to my dull skin.
FRAGRANCE
Marc Jacob’s Mod Noir fragrance has really won me over this month. It has been my fragrance choice this month because I love the warm, clean and crisp gardenia scent it imparts. I tend to select fragrances depending on my mood and this one has been a mainstay this past month. It’s such a wonderfully airy and intoxicating scent that I will continue to use in the months to come.
NAILS
For my nails, I’ve been loving the color red! My favorite for the month is Tom Ford’s Nail Lacquer in Carnal Red. It’s a very wearable red that I can’t seem to get enough of. It applies beautifully and is long lasting. I typically get a manicure every two weeks. My nails are natural, I’ve never had any acrylic fillers and my manicurist simply files them into shape and applies two coats of the polish. It doesn’t chip easily and is long lasting. I’m thinking of changing my polish for a deeper berry shade now that Fall has made its way here.
Thank you for stopping by today. What were some of your favorites?
