Nars recently launched their new Audacious Mascara in Black Moon. It comes in a black rounded tube with with the iconic NARS logo and a splash of red at the top of the base. I was picking up some last minute items on my list during the last day of Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale when I saw the display. The red hook-like mascara wand immediately caught my attention. This latest offering was something that I had to try! I have been using this mascara for the past couple of weeks since my purchase on August 4th. Read on for my review. But first, here's a description of the mascara via Sephora's website:
What it is:
A buildable, all-in-one mascara with an exclusive, lash-catching brush that separates, lengthens, and amplifies.
What it does:
Designed with over 200 molded bristles and lengthening hooks, NARS’ lash-catching brush evenly grips and coats lashes from roots to tips. It simultaneously separates, lengthens, and amplifies, while the tapered tip finishes off the inner and outermost lashes and enhance the lower lashes. An extraordinary balance of suppleness and staying power, the uniquely fluid, first-to-market formula creates incredible volume and definition that is lightweight and long-wearing.
Pros:The mascara delivers! It lengthens and lifts my lashes and I can see a noticeable difference in lash volume. It layers well without clumping. I can feel the hooks gently tug on my lashes as I begin to apply it from the base and swipe up. It provides comfortable wear throughout the day and I didn't experience any flakiness. Another benefit is that it does not irritate my eyes. I wear contact lenses daily and therefore, I have to find eye makeup and mascara that won't cause irritation. I even provided an impromptu demonstration of the mascara to one of my fellow colleagues at work, and the first word she uttered was, "Wow." I have been using the mascara everyday since.
Cons: The same wand that works amazingly well for my upper lashes does not work optimally for my lower lashes. The wand is just a little too big to really get into the itty- bitty fine hairs that I have in the bottom. It's not what I would consider a big problem and does not detract from the mascara's overall performance in my estimation.
Bottom line: Overall, I am pleased with my purchase of the Nars Audacious mascara and this will be yet another addition to my mascara stash. It provides length, definition, and volume and performs well throughout the day. I'm hooked!
Thank you for dropping by.
