Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color Review & Swatches: Temptation, Seduction, and Addiction

Recently, Target had a one day sales promotion for 25% off all beauty products. I took advantage of this deal and picked up some colors from Revlon’s newly released Ultra HD Matte Lip Color. Many of the colors were completely sold out and I managed to pick up three. According to the product description, it is officially described as a lightweight, high definition, matte color with a moisturizing velvety feel.

Benefits: (via Revlon’s website)

  • 100% wax-free, gel formula
  • Plush velvety applicator
  • Creamy mango and whipped vanilla fragrance
  • Many high definition shades to love

They are nicely packaged and come in flattened oval shaped tubes with a silver-toned cap that easily twists open. I would describe the paddle-like applicator as some what thicker than your regular doe foot applicator, but a little more tapered toward the end which allows for a more precise application. I was luckily able to find three colors. Scroll below for my picks.

Seduction- mid tone blush nude.

Temptation- bright, pinky coral

Addiction-berry raspberry.

One thing that I immediately noticed upon twisting open the cap is the sweet and fruity mango-vanilla scent. This does not bother me whatsoever, however if you are very sensitive to scents then this may be something to consider before purchasing. The texture is creamy and velvety and felt moisturizing on my lips. It did not dry down to a complete matte finish, as the name suggests, rather the result is more of a semi-matte, plush finish with a hint of sheen. It provides beautifully pigmented, opaque coverage with one swipe and felt comfortable throughout the day. It pleasantly did not transfer outside of my lip lines and I experienced minimal transferring when eating and/or drinking. Swatches to follow below.

One of the stand out features of the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colors is that it is very moisturizing which is a departure from most liquid lipsticks that I have in my beauty stash. I’m happy to say that these are not drying at all, nor do they settle into fine lines. I have worn all three colors and my favorite is Addiction. It is very complementary on my medium-golden skin tone and is a beautiful berry raspberry that I likely can see myself reach for quite often.

Bottom line, the Revlon Ultra Matte Lipcolors are beautifully pigmented, provide opaque coverage and are incredibly comfortable to wear. Though the color is semi-matte, it provides a hint of sheen which I think helps to make your lips look fuller. Truthfully, if you prefer a drier, super matte finish, then this will not work for you. However, if you want a formula that is more forgiving on the lips or you have been thinking about venturing into liquid lipsticks, this is an affordable drugstore buy that will not break the bank. I’d love to hear what you think of these. Are you planning on picking any up?

Thank you for stopping by today.
