Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation and Ultra HD Concealer Review

Makeup Forever’s Ultra HD line represents a new generation of high definition formulations which was developed according to the latest technologies in the film and TV industry. Ultra HD is supposed to be completely invisible under the 4k lens, giving a second skin appearance. I was a fan of the original HD foundation, and I’ve had the Ultra HD version in my foundation rotation for several months now. This foundation spectacularly comes in 40 shades to suit a range of skin tones. To accompany the Ultra HD Foundation is the newly released Ultra HD Concealers, a set of ten shades available for both correcting and concealing. I recently picked up the concealer shade in Y31 (Medium) and I have been using the concealer since. Today I’d like to share my review on both the foundation and the concealer. Kindly scroll below for details.

 Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation

Packaging & Claims:

The Ultra HD foundation comes in packaging that is an updated version from the original HD version. It features a pump top and a metallic band which gives it a more chic, modern look. The new 4k formula claims to have 4x the color saturation, clarity and resolution than the previous HD formula. It also claims to provide medium to buildable coverage that is lightweight, and appears like second-skin.

Application:

For reference I am in the shade Y325 which suits my medium golden skin tone. To prep my skin I use the STEP 1 skin equalizer in Cool Pink. I always use primer before foundation because it helps to smooth out my skin, and extend makeup wear. The Step 1 skin equalizer in Cool Pink feels very lightweight and helps to provide a boost of radiance to my skin. I follow up with the foundation, which feels very lightweight and sheer as it claims, yet provides very pigmented and smooth coverage. I dispense a couple of pumps to the back of my hand and use my Sephora Pro Foundation brush #55 to buff it onto my face. It blends seamlessly and helps to immediately even out my skin tone. I can add more coverage, if desired. It is buildable and blends like a dream and does not look cakey, which is a huge plus.

Wear & Feel

It feels incredible on my skin, and on me, it provides a semi-matte dewy finish. It did not settle into any fine lines and it provided long lasting coverage through out the day. It also feels very lightweight as it claims and stays put for a good 6-7 hours. I have worn the foundation in the midst of Southern California humidity as well as on these cold winter days as of late, and it provides beautiful coverage that lasts.

Verdict

The Ultra HD Foundation is indeed a foundation that has a brilliant formula and provides beautiful coverage. If you are looking for a foundation that is lightweight, yet buildable and does not look cakey, this is definitely worth a try. It also photographs beautifully and is perfect for those nights out. The foundation comes in a range of 40 shades to suit every skin tone imaginable. I would suggest going into Sephora for a color match. They have a Color IQ system which is a beauty device that scans the surface of your skin. Three different areas of your face are scanned and once calibrated, it recommends a scientifically precise match and color recommendations according to your skin tone. I am very pleased with the Ultra HD Foundation and will continue to use it in my foundation rotation.

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Concealer

Packaging and Claims:

The concealers come in a very sleek and slender squeeze tube, that dispenses product from a slanted open tip. You get 0.23 oz of product, which is a sizable amount. In comparison, the Nars Radiant Creamy concealer has o.22 worth of product and the Urban Decay Naked Concealer has 0.16 oz of product. The product claims to help you color correct and conceal dark circles with an Anti-Dark Circle Complex with Radiance Booster that stimulates collagen to refresh under eyes. The formula reflects light to erase shadows and fills & smooths fine lines, while Hyaluronic spheres helps to hydrate the skin. The formula  is also in line with performing well under 4k technology to appear like second skin on camera and in real life.

Application:

I purchased the concealer in Y31 , which is suitable for my medium golden skin tone. I squeeze a small amount from the tube while dabbing a few dots underneath my eye. I just lightly pat the concealer with my fingers and it does the trick. The texture is lightweight, yet pigmented. It was easy to cover and banish my dark circles and it blended very nicely into my skin. An application tip via Sephora’s website is to tilt your head down and look straight into the mirror to see where you need coverage to apply to the darker areas.

Wear & Feel:

The concealer felt very lightweight and immediately brightened the under eye area without being overdone. It wore well through out the day and I did not experience any creasing whatsoever. I did not experience any dryness, which is a huge plus. It did not settle into fine lines nor did it cake up. I would say that it provides light to medium coverage. It is not as thick and heavy duty as some concealers I’ve used in the past, and I feel that it provides very natural looking coverage.

Verdict:

The Makeup Forever Ultra HD concealer is a wonderful addition to my concealer stash. It provides lightweight, yet buildable coverage that immediately brightens under the eye area. It also performed well throughout the day and did not crease. I would recommend this for those of you looking for a concealer that does the trick and helps you look refreshed under the eye area.
