Nyx Cosmetics recently released a line of blushes inspired by the ombre trend for 2016. The formula features two colors that can be blended for a customizable finish. I purchased the colors Istaflame and Codebreaker during my visit to IMATS last month and today I’d like to share my thoughts on them since I’ve given them a test run. They are a drugstore brand that I feel has stepped their game up with their product releases.
The first shade I picked up was Ista flame, which is an incredibly vivid red with peach shift. The colors are beautifully coordinated, and depending on the look you want to achieve, you can build it up to your desired intensity. I preferred to mix the shade to create a custom match that produced more of a coral shift. I used an angled blush brush which picked up a lot of pigment with one stroke. I would suggest you use a very light hand when applying otherwise the color might appear too intense.
The second shade I picked up was Codebreaker which is a beautiful purple with magenta shift. The texture of the blush powders are very smooth and blend with ease. I like that you can swirl it on one side for more purple or the other for a decidedly more magenta finish. Swatches to follow below.
These blush options are certainly not your everyday colors but they are nonetheless fun colors to play with. They also have staying power and lasted for a good 5 hours on me before fading. At $10 each, they are a steal. The Nyx Ombre blushes are now currently available online and in retail stores where Nyx is located.
Thank you for stopping by today!
