Algenist, a biotechnology brand known for their range of skincare has now made their debut into the area of color, launching their REVEAL Collection,* a makeup line utilizing a multitude of microalgae based species to color correct and improve skin’s tone and radiance. I had the pleasure of attending the press event on the day of its launch and I’ve been testing the foundation for the past two weeks now and today I’d like to share my thoughts and first impressions.
THE REVEAL COLLECTION

REVEAL Color Correcting Anti- Aging Serum Foundation SPF 15 ($48)

This one-0f-a kind, lightweight foundation with buildable coverage combines AlgaCorrecting Complex, Alguronic Acid and Microalgae Oil to instantly color correct, smooth skin, and cover imperfections. AlgaCorrecting Complex helps treat the appearance of dull, uneven skin tone. A long-lasting semi-matte finish leaves skin looking and feeling smooth, radiant and flawless. The foundation is packaged in a sleek frosted bottle complete with a dropper. The formula feels fluid and weightless and provides the perfect blend of coverage and luminosity especially when paired with their Color Correcting Radiant Primer. It appears much like the feel of a weightless serum, and when applied with a damp beauty blender, it immediately helps to even out and perfect my skin tone while providing wonderfully radiant coverage that lasts for hours. Four drops is all I need to achieve medium coverage. My match is the color medium which is suitable for my medium-golden NW 35 skin tone. The coverage lasts beautifully throughout the day and I get 6 hours of touch-up free wear that feels comfortable and weightless. An added benefit to its formula is the addition of SPF, which helps to keep my skin protected from the sun’s harmful rays. In all, I am impressed with the formula of this new addition to Algenist’s line of products. The impressive coverage coupled with the benefits of its anti-aging formula, makes it uniquely one-of-a kind.
REVEAL Color Correcting Radiant Primer ($36)

An advanced tinted primer that incorporates Algenist’s newest biotech discoveries, including AlgaCorrecting Complex, Alguronic Acid and Microalgae Oil to instantly color correct, improve skin tone and prepare skin for seamless makeup application. Universal tinted pigments, combined with antioxidants and Vitamin E, brighten skin and effectively minimize the appearance of skin imperfections. Use alone fro radiant, smooth-looking natural skin, or use to perfect and prime the skin for flawless and long-lasting makeup application.
The radiant primer is unlike any primer I’ve tried before. A small dime sized amount is all you need to achieve a perfectly radiant, luminous finish to the skin. It contains tinted pigments that feel like mini micro beads. Once you start apply the primer, the micro beads blend seamlessly, and the tinted pigments create a lustrous veil that helps to minimize the appearance of pores while priming the skin before the application of makeup. The primer coupled with their serum foundation leaves my skin looking even, perfected and gloriously luminous in addition to providing impressive lasting power. REVEAL 6-in-1 Color Correcting Concealer ($28)

This long-lasting multi-tasking concealer is formulated to: prime, brighten, treat, correct color, provide high coverage, and fight the visible signs of aging. It covers major imperfections, including scars, skin discoloration, hyperpigmentation, and more, leaving behind a smooth, matte finish. Formulated with AlgaCorrecting Complex, this multi-action formula instantly obscures imperfections, blurs the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and hides dark circles.
While the serum foundation and primer are completely lightweight, Algenist’s 6-in-1 concealer is not. It is an industrial strength concealer that will help to camouflage dark circles, any discoloration or shadows. The texture is thick and creamy, yet completely buildable and I’ve found that a little truly goes a long way. I’ve applied the concealer by dabbing a few dots with my ring finger and blending with a micro beauty blender. It works beautifully and immediately helps to lift and brighten the under eye area. I use my favorite translucent setting powder to set it after applying and I get creaseless, long lasting wear through out the day. I have also used the concealer to hide a few dark spots on my cheeks and it performs beautifully, helping to perfect and even out my skin tone. In all, I am very impressed with my introduction to Algenist’s REVEAL Collection. The serum foundation, Radiant Primer and concealer are high performance products that also boast a host of beneficial ingredients for the skin and these benefits are truly promising. For someone looking for makeup that is also equal parts skincare, this brand certainly fits the bill. I look forward to putting the foundation in my rotation this spring and summer.
