Kylie Lip Kit Kourt K: Review, Swatches and Comparisons

The newest addition to the highly sought after Kylie Jenner Lip Kits is the color Kourt K.  I somehow managed to snag Kourt K online during its initial release, in the minutes before it sold out. The lip kits contain one Matte Liquid Lipstick and one coordinating pencil lip liner for the retail price of 0f $29. Today I’d like to share product information, swatches as well as comparison swatches, and finally, my overall review. Kindly scroll below for more details.

Here’s a description of the product via their website:

This ultra-long wearing lip liner has a creamy texture that glides across the lips for a very easy and comfortable application. The Lip Liner sharpens easily in most standard sized sharpeners – just make sure your sharpener is not dull!

The Liquid Matte Lipstick has high intensity pigment for an instant bold matte lip. The extremely long wearing lipstick contains moisturizing ingredients for a comfortable, emollient and silky feel that does not dry your lips out.

The lip kits come inside a box with Kylie’s name on it. The box prominently displays lips drenched in lipstick. Once you take out its contents, Kylie’s signature is also displayed on both the lip liner and liquid lipstick. I would describe Kourt K as a deep purple wine color. It is a very bold shade that may not be for everybody, however, I love wearing deeper tones occasionally. Once you twist it open, you will immediately notice a strong,  sweet scent. I would describe it as a vanilla-butterscotch scent. This does not bother me whatsoever, but for those of you that are sensitive to scents this is something you should consider before purchasing. The liquid lipstick contains a doe felt applicator that is slightly curved up which allows for a more precise application. It was, therefore, a breeze to maneuver and apply the color on my lip. In terms of its formulation, it has a creamy and mousse-y  texture, which I really like. This particular color applied a little wet and the drying time set in about 2 minutes.  I think that all liquid lipsticks are drying to some degree, and this one felt moderately comfortable through out the day. I did notice a little fading towards the center after 5 hours of wear but other than that, it lasted throughout the day. The coordinating lip liner was creamy, pigmented and smooth. It glided on nicely without tugging. The liner reminds me of the color Nightmoth from MAC.

The Kourt K lipliner is pictured on top, while the Kourt K liquid lipstick is pictured in the bottom.

Comparisons:

I decided to pull out some of my other liquid lip stains in the same color family for comparison purposes. I was sure that I could find a close enough dupe and one color came pretty close,  though there did not exist a perfect dupe. Scroll below for my color comparisons.

The two colors that came closest was High Drama from MAC Cosmetics and Stila’s Chianti Liquid Lipstick. High Drama came the closest to a perfect dupe, though it contains more of a burgundy rather than purple tone. Stila’s Chianti also came close, though this color leans more towards a cool deeper purple than Kourt K.

My Overall Thoughts:

I am pleased with the formula, performance and color pay off of my purchase of the Kylie Lip Kit in Kourt K. It’s a vampy shade that may not work for everyone, especially those with very fair skin. It suited my medium golden skin, however, quite nicely. Occasionally, I think it’s fun to rock colors that are different from your typical everyday look.  The price is quite reasonable considering that most liquid lipsticks cost around $20-24 and  you are also getting a coordinating lip pencil with the kit.

Do you have any Kylie Lip Kits? If so, what is your favorite color?
