Marc Jacobs Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator Review and Swatches

Marc Jacobs Beauty’s newest highlighter, the Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator in the color Spotlight has been heavily used in my rotation, and today I am excited to share my review and swatches with you. This portable twist up cream highlighter was a perfect travel companion on my recent trip to Cabo. I used it every day while there. Its compact design in addition to its ease- of- use made it very convenient to carry with me nearly everywhere.

The packaging was inspired by one of Marc Jacobs’ favorite travel deodorants. It comes in a palm- shaped case along with a twist-up dial that is easy to maneuver. The pearlized formula is universally flattering. It has a mix of fine gold and silver pearl which would work for both warm and cool skin tones. The cream formula feels smooth and deposits a fine sheen that provides just the right amount of luminosity and radiance, never feeling oily or sticky with superb staying power. On me, it lasted for a good 7 hours albeit being in the sun and exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

I’ve applied the the Glow Stick Illuminator in many different ways. I’ve used it with their Shape and Contour brush (No. 15), dabbing and stippling the cream into the brush before blending it on the high points of my cheekbones. It glides on beautifully, smoothly, and effortlessly.  My favorite way to apply the Glowstick is to swipe the cream with my fingers and simply dab it along my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose and my cupid’s bow before blending it with my fingers. I’ve even used a little bit of the Glowstick underneath my brow bone—it’s simply perfect for basically anywhere you want a little bit of glow. Scroll below for a swatch of it on my medium golden skintone and a short video clip of the Glowstick in action.

Now that summer is in full swing, I’ve been using many cream products lately. I just love how the Glowstick immediately provides on-the-go radiance that makes my skin look luminous, and naturally dewy. Bottom line, I would recommend this for anyone looking for a highlight that provides a soft and subtle glow with a remarkably dewy finish that is not overly done.  It’s a portable spotlight that can really be used anytime and anywhere.

The Marc Jacobs Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator ($42) is currently sold at Sephora, select Nieman Marcus locations as well as on their official website, which you can find here.
