YSL Fall 2016: Yves Saint Laurent Scandal Couture Palette

Though Summer is in full swing, Fall collections are already surfacing at beauty retail counters. The beauty of YSL Limited Edition pieces gets me almost every time. I often find that my resistance is futile, and today’s blog post will feature a new addition from Yves Saint Laurent Beauty’s Fall 2016 Collection: the stunning YSL Scandal Couture Palette. It’s packed with rich, fall ready colors enclosed in opulent limited edition packaging, no less.

The palette is housed in a sleek golden case sheathed in dark green leather and features an orange laser cut design which prominently displays the famous YSL logo.

The palette is comprised of 5 fall ready shades that are rich, shimmery, and quite bold, a testament to the edgy femininity I’ve come to expect from YSL creations. The palette opens up to a mirror and houses two small applicators for use.

The Shades:

 Shimmering Olive Green

 Shimmering Burgundy

 Luminous Taupe

 Golden Bronze

 Shimmering Deep Teal

It’s important to note that all of the shades contained within the palette have a shimmering finish, which perhaps is the only downside to it,  especially if you are partial to matte finishes. The formula is quite impressive. All of the shadows are exceptionally pigmented and the texture feels soft, smooth, and buttery to touch.  Below are swatches taken in direct sunlight with one swipe. My favorite colors in this palette are the golden bronze and shimmering burgundy shades, they are rich and beautiful and suit me perfectly. First impressions are good, although I think this palette could include a matte color option as a transitional shade.

I hope you enjoyed this post, the swatches, and my first impressions of the YSL Scandal Couture Palette. All in all, I love the packaging and the colors contained within, although I do not think that this is a must have piece by any means. It’s a collector’s item and truly a nice one to have. On another note, I have been thinking of experimenting with my blog lately. I would like to perhaps make a combination of shorter reviews, maybe just product swatches and thoughts because each comprehensive blog post requires a full day or so to complete. My ultimate goal of course, would be to help convey product images and swatches that would be helpful to you, especially if you don’t have access to physically test the item in stores.

The Yves Saint Laurent Scandal Couture Palette retails for $60 USD and is currently available online at Nordstrom and will be available at most beauty retail counters where YSL Beauty is sold in August. You can find it here.

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks for stopping by today.
