Two New Skincare Cleansing Devices: Foreo Luna 2 and Foreo Luna Play

The foundation of beautiful skin starts with skincare.  When my skin feels and looks healthy, I find that the application of my makeup goes on a lot more smoothly.  When my skin is at its very best, my makeup looks at its very best, so establishing a good skincare routine is very important. Today I’m excited to share my experience with the Foreo Luna 2* and Foreo Luna Play, two new skincare cleansing devices I’ve been using for almost a month now. With its innovative design, and easy-to-use features, I am consistently left with immensely clean and smooth skin every time.

I’ll first start by describing my experience with the Foreo Luna 2, $199. It is officially described as a waterproof cleansing and anti-aging device that deeply cleanses while improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for radiant, firm, youthful- looking skin. The device is available in four colors tailored to match specific skincare needs–normal, sensitive, combination, and oily. The device I have in the color pink is best suited for my normal skin type.

“The next-generation LUNA 2 facial cleansing brush utilizes up to 2X the T-Sonic power to gently exfoliate dead skin cells, unclog pores of makeup residue, and remove up to 99.5% of dirt and oil. The LUNA 2 face brush also improves the absorption of your favorite skincare products.”- Foreo.com

The Foreo Luna 2 works by gently cleansing the skin with up to 8,000 T-Sonic pulsations per minute channeled through silicone touch points. It is completely waterproof and I can easily use it in the shower to remove all traces of the day’s makeup. It is lightweight and easily to hold and maneuver. I simply lather my face with my face wash of choice, press the button in the center, and hold the device over the surface of my skin as it lightly massages and gently cleanses. It does not feel abrasive whatsoever and I can adjust the intensity of the pulsations by pressing the plus (+) and minus signs (-) on the device. A short pause after every 15 seconds will indicate that I can move on to another surface area of my face. Once the cycle is complete, three short beeps, followed by a light indicator at the base of the device, signals the end of the cleansing cycle.  It effortlessly and effectively cleanses the surface of my skin every time. My skin is left feeling smooth, baby soft, and ready for the serum and moisturizer treatment that follows. Another added benefit is that you never have to spend money on purchasing a replacement brush like other cleansing devices.

The reverse anti-aging side of the Luna 2 uses lower-frequency pulsations and claims to visibly reduce fine lines, wrinkles, leaving the skin looking firm and lifted. After applying your serum and/or moisturizer, you simply press the button in the center and gently press the device to wrinkle prone areas for one minute. I have to admit that I have not been consistent with using the anti-aging side. At the moment, I do not have the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles, so my preferred method of applying my serums and face creams is by using my hands. I do think, however, that it serves as a preventative anti- aging measure that I will likely use in the imminent future. What’s more, the ultra-hygienic silicone design is quick drying and nonporous to prevent bacteria buildup. Did I mention that it boasts 450 uses per full charge? Quite amazing!

Moving on to the Luna Play, their smallest offering yet. A size comparison is pictured above and below for reference. Though this device is a quarter of the size of its full size counterpart, it certainly packs a punch and was a great travel companion on my recent trip to Cabo.

The device is priced at $39 and comes fully charged and ready to use. It contains a non rechargeable battery for up to 100 uses, which I think is quite reasonable and a perfect way to determine whether or not you like it enough to invest in a full size Luna device. It’s a great way to ‘play’ with the product and get an idea of whether it is something you can imagine incorporating into your everyday skin routine.

The Luna Play works in the same way as the Luna 2, using T-Sonic pulsations with a non-abrasive silicone brush. You simply press a button on the back of the device and it powers on. Though you cannot change the intensity of the pulsations with this device, I find that the vibrations are set at a comfortable frequency, not too fast nor slow, ensuring a simple, yet effective way to deeply clean the surface of the skin. I have used the device over a dozen times and truly love how small and compact it is. It works effectively and is the perfect travel companion.

Bottom line, I am quite impressed with both the Luna 2 and Luna Play cleansing devices. I thoroughly enjoy the entire process which leaves my skin feeling remarkably smooth, clean and supple. If you are interested in enhancing the way your cleanse your skin, I sincerely recommend you give the Foreo Luna a try.  If you are on the fence about whether or not you want to invest in a full size Foreo device, the LUNA play would serve as a perfect introduction.
