Maybelline recently released a trio of products described to help amplify your beauty routine and help get you camera ready, the Master Primer Blur and Illuminate*, Master Contour Stick*, and Master Strobe Highlighting Stick*. I was sent kindly sent samples from Maybelline to explore these products and today I have information and my preliminary thoughts on these products to share with you.
The Face Studio Master Prime Blur + Illuminate is a primer designed to brighten the complexion and even out the skin tone. It has a weightless, non-oily formula that has a unique slightly pink tint when squeezed out of the tube. When applied, it absorbs easily into the skin and creates a beautifully illuminating finish that helps to smooth out my skin’s surface and prep my skin for the makeup application that follows. The primer can also be worn alone and I found that the primer helped to prolong my makeup application and keep it looking fresh through out the day. It also contains SPF 30 which is a major plus.
The Face Studio Master Contour stick is a dual sided duo that features a dark contour shade on one side to add structure to the hollows of the cheeks and a light highlight shade on the other to enhance the cheekbone. The Master Contour Stick is available in three shades: Light, Medium and Dark and medium works perfectly on my NW35 skin tone. The formula is creamy, ultra blendable and provides a matte finish. I watched Maybelline’s snapchat story unfold while makeup artist Kamila Bravo put the products into action. I followed her tips and found that I do like the stick, it’s easy to apply and blend although I found that I prefer the contour side more than the highlight side. I still prefer to using my everyday concealer underneath the eye area to create a more defined highlight. Swatches of all three Master Contour sticks to follow below.
The Face Studio Master Strobe Highlighting Stick is described as a highlighter infused with microfine pearls that easily glides on skin leaving behind a light reflecting sheen. There are two colors available, Light-iridescent and medium- Nude Glow. The sticks are creamy and easy to apply wherever you want to add a strobing effect–underneath the brow bone, the top of the cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose or the cupid’s bow. The highlight can be soft and subtle or built to your desired luminosity. I prefer to swipe it with my fingers to apply it on my face and produces such a beautiful glow.
I enjoyed exploring and playing with these new Maybelline additions. These products not only perform well but they are reasonably priced and budget friendly. The standout product for me is the Face Studio Master Highlighting stick. It leaves such a beautiful glow and is perfect on-the-go.
