Happy National Lipstick Day 2016

In honor of National Lipstick day, I thought I’d share a post dedicated to the one beauty item that I just cannot get enough of—lipsticks! I have tried so many different formulas, finishes and textures and if you were to ask me to pinpoint an absolute favorite–my answer would most likely vary depending on the category.  Sheer or full coverage? Nudes or brights? Drugstore or high end? If you follow me on Instagram, you will likely discover that I am a total #lipstickjunkie. Much like having different outfits ready- to- wear for different occasions, my lipstick wardrobe consists of many different finishes, formulas and colors to suit my makeup mood. This is going to be an image heavy post, so let’s get started, shall we?

E.L.F. Cosmetics Moisturizing Lipsticks– One of my favorite drugstore brands is Elf Cosmetics. I find the that the lipsticks are very creamy and moisturizing.  It’s also enriched with Shea and vitamins A, C & E and for $3 the price can’t be beat. I wrote more about my favorite E.L.F. products here if you’re interested in reading .

MAC Cosmetics lipstick. I couldn’t  write a post without including some MAC lipsticks. The quality, color options, range of finishes, and iconic bulleted packaging is among one of my favorites. When it comes to limited edition collaborations and packaging, MAC Cosmetics creates a demand like no other. For swatches and info on the latest MAC Cosmetics offerings from Nordstrom’s anniversary sale, click here.

Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lipsticks I have been a fan of Too Faced’s color drenched lipsticks for quite some time now. One of my favorite colors is Naked Dolly, which is a beautiful satin pink. They are very hydrating and moisturizing thanks to its infusion of  White Lotus Extract. The lipsticks come in gorgeous shades of both shimmering and iridescent versions. On the days where I want more of a sheer to satin finish, this is what I reach for. You can find my review and swatches of all ten shades here.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick. The packaging is so luxurious and the formula is deeply pigmented and nourishing. Pictured above is the limited edition YSL Kiss and Love Collection. These colors are part of their permanent collection. This one is especially special because of the love bites etched onto each lipstick. All swatches can be found in my review here.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Cremes One of my favorite lipstick brands and formulas is Marc Jacob’s Beauty’s Le Marc Creme lipsticks. If you’re looking for an opaque, full coverage formula with great lasting power, this one is it. My favorite colors are So Sofia, Boy Gorgeous, Blow, and Georgie Girl. Find my review and swatches here and here.

Nars Audacious Lipsticks Another opaque formula that I love is by Nars. It’s richly pigmented, glides on beautifully and comes in a sleek black tube. The color range and longevity are quite impressive.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks I received these CT lipsticks as a Christmas gift last year and I just love the matte finish it provides. The beautiful Rose Gold packaging is TDF, and Very Victoria and Sienna has quickly become my favorites.

Tom Ford Lipsticks One of the most luxurious lipsticks I own is by Tom Ford. I love the super luxe packaging and the TF embossed logo. Each lip color contains rare and exotic ingredients such as soja seed extract, Brazilian murmuru butter and chamomile flower oil to create an ultra-creamy texture. The color saturation, pigmentation and creamy texture is what I’ve come to love and expect from Tom Ford’s line of lipsticks. They glide on easily and there is no tugging on the lips. The color is not only pigmented, but wears comfortably for several hours. Find some of my color picks and swatches here and here.

Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin The most opulent lipstick I own is by Christian Louboutin. Each lipstick bullet is intricately and ornately patterned and is inspired by Babylonian architecture. These lipsticks also double as a charm that can be worn around the neck, and resemble the shape of a vial. Each lipstick comes at a hefty price tag at $90 each,  however one look at this gloriously beautiful work of art and one swipe of the formula,  you will realize that good things rarely come cheap. Find my review here. Pictured below is the newly released Loubilaque lip lacquers, which you can find swatches of here.

Organization is key when it comes to any makeup collection and to my delight, I recently discovered the Vanity Impressions 70 slot lipstick organizer, pictured above, for my storage solutions. The acrylic organizer is designed to fit perfectly snug inside IKEA Alex drawers. A full blog post on these organizers will be forthcoming, however if you are interested in checking it out, you can find the website here. Vanity Impressions was kind enough to offer me a discount code for my readers. Use “Calibeaute”* to save some money.

I hope you enjoyed my image heavy post. I did not include my collection of liquid lipsticks. Perhaps I’ll discuss my favorites in that particular category at another time.  Which brand, formula, or finish is among your favorites? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
