Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Review

Hourglass Cosmetics recently launched their Vanish Seamless Foundation stick, $46. It’s described as a foundation and concealer in one, which claims to to be long wearing, waterproof, and offer instant full coverage in one application. It also boasts a concentrated formula infused with double the amount of pigment versus traditional foundations and is designed to adjust to your own body temperature to blend into your skin for a seamless finish.

The foundation is available in 26 shades and I visited my local Sephora retail store to find my perfect match. Fortunately, an Hourglass beauty educator was there at the time of my visit. She not only helped me find my perfect color match, but also demonstrated the best way to apply and blend the foundation. My match is the color Golden, a medium shade with golden undertones.

The foundation is designed for precise application, and features a a twist up triangular shaped bullet that is very easy to apply to the contours of the face. It is sleek, compact and conveniently fits easily inside my makeup bag. The Vanish foundation Brush also launched with the new foundation stick and is designed to go hand in hand together. The brush is lightweight and is slightly angled which I really appreciate. The bristles are super soft and dense, and it works exceptionally well, helping to blend the foundation for a smooth and even finish. I was initially going to pass on the brush, but was sold after seeing it demonstrated in action. It truly is amazing!

The foundation feels extremely creamy when applied and packs a lot of pigment. I have found that the best way to apply it is to place three stripes across the right and left sides of my face and blending it over the planes of my face, only adding more where reinforcement is needed. It provides a medium to full coverage finish depending on the look I want to achieve for the day. The finish is smooth, even, and seamless every time.  It feels extremely lightweight, and leaves my complexion looking at its very best. My color shade is swatched below.

I have tried the foundation with both the Ambient Light Reflecting Primer as well as the Mineral Veil primer. Both primers help to prolong the wear of the foundation and helps to keep  it looking fresh throughout the day. The Ambient Light Reflecting primer helps to provide an  more luminous, dewy finish when applied underneath the foundation, while the Mineral Veil primer produces more of a mattifying effect. My makeup lasted for a good 9 hours without creasing or transferring. It’s been quite hot out here in Southern California. The foundation’s staying power despite this heat is a testament to how well it works.

The above images reflect Hourglass makeup products in action. On the left I’m wearing  the Vanish Foundation with the Ambient Light Reflecting primer underneath along with the Hourglass Sheer Illume Color Trio, reviewed here. On the right, I am wearing the Vanish Foundation with the Mineral Veil Primer underneath, set with a light application of my Laura Mercier translucent powder for a more mattifying finish.

Bottom line, the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation does indeed offer long wearing, full coverage application. It delivers what it promises and I am extremely pleased with the performance of this foundation. I would recommend that you give this foundation a try, especially if you are a fan of stick foundations.

The foundation retails for $46 and can be found here.

Thank you for stopping by today.
