YSL Rouge Pur Couture Star Clash Edition Lipstick: Rose Stiletto and Rouge Rose Review and Swatches

One exciting launch that is now available online and in stores is the The Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Star Clash Edition Lipsticks for Holiday 2016. Dressed up for the holidays in sparkly gold packaging and embossed with stars, this holiday collection instantly captivated my attention since I am a huge fan of the YSL lipstick formula. This year’s limited edition collection includes 6 shades and today I have two to share with you.

The limited Rouge Pur Couture Collection features packaging enveloped with a stunning, sparkly gold exterior, housing a beautiful bullet embossed with stars within.

All 6 Shades include:

The two shades I purchased were Rose Stiletto (09), and Rouge Rose (52). Last year, I purchased Le Nu, Le Fuchsia, and Le Rouge from the YSL Kiss and Love Collection, reviewed here, so I wanted to pick out new shades that I did not currently own.

First up is Rose Stiletto. I would describe this color as a medium plum-rose shade. I found that this shade seems to appear darker in the tube than it does when swatched. Like the other Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks I own, it has the same incredible formula–intensely pigmented and hydrating. I can achieve full opacity with one swipe though I can build the color to my desired intensity. It has a subtle glossy cream sheen finish and of the two colors I purchased, this is my favorite shade. It’s a beautiful everyday shade that compliments my medium golden skin tone perfectly.

Next up is Rouge Rose. I would describe this color as a medium rose coral shade. Of the two shades, this one is vibrant and provides a pop of color that would be perfect for the Spring and Summer months. It has a similar finish which also has a bit of sheen to it. It’s intensely  pigmented with one swipe, so to tone it down a bit, I applied the lipstick to my bottom lip and pressed my lips together to transfer the color. I then used the pointed edge of the bullet to slightly line and fill out the edges. This color is most similar to another one I own–the Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick  #17 (Rose Dahlia), which is described as a Coral Orange.

.I have found the lipstick formula to be satisfactory in terms of color saturation and overall performance. It glides on smoothly and provides comfortable wear for a good five hours. The   lipstick is not transfer proof, however, and must be reapplied after eating and or drinking. Lip swatches to follow below.

Bottom line, I am happy with these new additions to my collection. I thoroughly enjoy the formula, beautiful embossing, and luxe gold packaging. I do not think this is a must have item. Likely, you may have something similar in your stash, however it’s a collector’s item and a nice one to have.

The Rouge Pur Couture Star Clash Edition lipsticks are priced at $37 USD and you can find it here.

Are any of these colors on your list?

Thank you for stopping by today.
