It’s the middle of September, yet many holiday collections are beginning to surface. There seems to be one launch after another, enticing us with their holiday offerings. One such enticing launch is Laura Mercier’s Fall in Love Face Illuminator Collection Palette. It’s a limited edition palette that features 4 highlighting powders to keep you glowing. I picked the palette up during Sephora’s Beauty Insider Appreciation Event last week and today I’ll be sharing photos, swatches, and my overall thoughts.

What it is:
A limited edition collection of four long-wearing, buildable, and versatile highlighting powders that provide a natural-looking, radiant glow.
What it does:
Laura Mercier Illuminator Powders highlight the skin with pure light-reflecting pigments for a color-true, multidimensional, and luminous finish that complements all skintones. Its non-dusting texture allows for a buildable layer of shine-from subtle highlight to a more intense level of luminosity.
The highlighting powders are housed within a square shaped compact that opens up to a decently sized mirror. The packaging comes complete with a chic leopard print pattern on its exterior case–a huge thumbs up for me since I love leopard print designs.

The palette is priced at $58. Size wise, they are about a third of the full size highlighters. While the palette measures – 4 x 0.11 oz/ 3.25 mL for $58, a full size highlighter retails for $44 each, 9 g/0.3 oz) Pictured above is an image of a full sized highlighter next to the palette for your reference. Price wise, they are weighted to be about the same cost per oz. as the full size highlighters. Each pan is quite small, so I would recommend using a smaller, delicate brush for application. I have a travel sized fan brush that I purchased from Smashbox a while ago, and it picks up the right amount for application. In terms of texture and quality, they appear to be the same as the full sized illuminators. They do appear to be cream like and very frosty in the pan, but the finish you get is a fine shimmer that is not too over the top. They are finely milled and pigmented and I would say that the official description provided which states that it has a “non-dusting texture” is an accurate description. It has a smooth texture that doesn’t kick up any powder and provides a very beautiful glow. Each one is distinctly different and beautiful in its own way so you have the opportunity to play with the colors and create a customized finish to your liking. I already own Seduction which is a beautiful soft bronze. I like to blend a little bit of this shade along with Indiscretion. It provides a beautiful candlelit glow when mixed together since the texture of the powders allow you to layer them without looking overtly frosty or cakey. You can either create a soft, natural application by sweeping your brush lightly or build it towards your desired intensity. On my medium golden NW35 skin tone, I think Seduction and Indiscretion suit me best. Swatches to follow below.

First impressions are good. I think this is a great way to try all four shades from her highlighter collection. The color options available will suit a variety of skin tones. I do not think this is a must have item, especially if you already own several of her full sized highlighters. There are other highlighter palette options available that are less pricy such as the ones from ABH. With that being said, I am very happy with my purchase. I do not own any of the full sized LM highlighters with the exception of one so this was a great piece to add to my collection.
