Huda Beauty Lip Contour Sets: Trophy WIfe and Muse, Vixen and Famous Swatches and Review

Huda Kattan, one of the top beauty influencers on Instagram recently released Lip Contour sets, now available at Sephora that contain 3 must- haves to achieve her famous lip contouring technique. They are priced at $24 each and come with two deluxe sized liquid matte lipsticks along with a coordinating lip pencil.

I initially purchased one of the liquid matte lipsticks in Bombshell (subtle pinkie nude) a couple of months ago and I was quite impressed. When these sets were available during Sephora’s VIB Rouge, I placed an order online for two of the sets and today I’ll be sharing my swatches and review.

What it does:
Take your lip looks to the next level with the Lip Contour Set. It features full sizes of the cult-favorite Lip Contour along with two mini Liquid Mattes in complementary shades, you can mix and match for unrivaled staying power. Use the Lip Contour Matte Pencil to first line and design the perfect lip shape, and then layer with the Liquid Matte Lipstick that fits your mood. With the ultra-lightweight texture of the lipstick, you get 30 seconds of play time to layer and blend the two for a unique color. For an ombré effect, use the dark shade first, and dab the lighter shade onto the center of your lips. With Huda’s favorite matching shades in each set, it makes it super easy to create a gorgeous lip look.

This set contains:
– 0.042 oz/ 1.20 g Lip Contour Matte Pencil
– 2 x 0.064 oz/ 1.81 g Liquid Matte Lipstick

Let’s first discuss packaging.  Each contour set comes in a slide out sleeve and prominently features Huda Kattan on the front of the box, seemingly with the lip look of the products housed wtithin.  The lip contour pencil is full size, while the two matte liquid lipsticks are deluxe sizes. I’ve previously reviewed the lip contour pencils here. The first kit I picked up is Trophy Wife and Muse. Trophy wife is described as a rose wood shade while Muse is a muted rose. Swatches to follow below.

One concern that I always have about liquid lipstick formulas is the fact that can   they can be really drying. The formula on the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte’s is very impressive.  It initially applies wet, which allows you more time to work with it before it completely dries down. It has a pleasant vanilla scent that isn’t overpowering and dissipates once it is on. The consistency is very thin, and you may need to apply two layers to get your desired intensity. The lipstick lasted through my light meals during the day and I was surprised by how comfortable it felt on. The coordinating lip pencil glides on smoothly and I have found that I prefer to lightly outline the shape of my lips prior to putting on the liquid lipsticks, though there are days where I bypass the liner all together.

The second set I picked up is Vixen and Famous which are deep berry tones perfect for Fall. Vixen is described as a deep brown while Famous is described as a deep burgundy. Swatches to follow below.

Overall, I think these sets are a great value and a great introduction to her line of lip products. Each full size matte lip liner regularly retails for $19, while each liquid matte lipstick retails for $20. I purchased these items during the Rouge Sale and was able to snag it for 20% off, which was an incredible price.

You can currently find the Huda Beauty Contour Lip Sets at Sephora here. I have been testing out the Huda Beauty Rose Gold Edition eyeshadow palette for the past couple of days and will have a review up soon. Have you tried any Huda Beauty Products?
