Last week I shared a post on my blog and Instagram about the upcoming launch of Pat Mc Grath’s first ever lipstick release, the Pat Mc Grath Labs Lust: Matte Trance lipstick collection. The post was met with enthusiasm and the collection has finally hit Sephora.com and select retail locations. I picked up two shades during a short trip to San Francisco last weekend and I’m excited to share them with you today. The collection is limited edition and I wanted to get my post up to for you as quickly as possible. I hope that you will find it helpful.
Details, courtesy of Sephora.com:
What it is:
A richly pigmented lipstick that adorns lips in a lightweight veil of opaque color for a modern, matte finish.
What it does:
MatteTrance™ is a richly pigmented lipstick with a sensually creamy, powerful pigment that evokes screen siren glamour with every application. Each shade is presented like a jewel in a black-lacquered couture case fashioned with a sensually surrealist golden lip that’s destined to be a cult-status collectable.
Get entrancing color that satisfies with supreme hydration and opulent matte opacity. Flaunt this richly pigmented formulation, cloaking lips in a lightweight veil of rich color. It’s infused with optical diffusers that blur the appearance of imperfections, combined with a blend of polymers to provide flexibility and adherence. An advanced formulation of spherical particles ensure a creamy soft texture for the smoothest film of color. Each shade is enmeshed in a powder film combined with saturated pigment for lightweight opaque coverage. This lipstick lays down a high impact with a strong finish.
Matte Trance Lipstick Elson
Elson is officially described as a blue red and this is accurate. It’s a gorgeous red shade that I think would be universally flattering on any skin tone. One swipe is all you need for full opacity. I remember the reaction I had upon swatching it for the first time—-“holy pigment!” It was truly love at first swatch. The texture is smooth and creamy and reminds me of the Rouge Louboutin Velvet Matte lipstick in the shade Rouge Louboutin.
Matte Trance Lipstick Omi
The matte trance lipstick in Omi is a beautiful mid tone nude rose and it my favorite of the two. The nude shades in this collection really piqued my interest and I originally had my sights on 1995 which is a warm light nude. It’s the kind of color that would pair beautifully with a smoky eye. However, at the end I decided that Omi would be a perfect every day nude and it would stay in my basket.
The formula is truly phenomenal, you get rich opaque coverage in a mere single swipe. You get a soft matte finish that feels creamy and is never drying. It is smooth, long lasting and yields ultimate color payoff, even leaving a slight stain upon wiping it off your lips. In fact, the swatches on my wrist still are noticeable even after wiping them with a makeup remover towelette. The lasting power is very good.
The lipsticks are priced at $38 each, a price tag that is fairly steep. In the end, were the products worth it? The color selection, formula, and performance all point to a ‘yes’ verdict for me. Swatches to follow below.
Top: Omi, bottom, Elson.
Pricing and Availability: Singles $38, Trios $95 and Everything $275. Limited Edition.
I hope you found my review helpful. Next on my list is the YSL All Hours foundation, which is very promising thus far.
