MAC’s latest release is the #MACGirls Palettes, a collection of 6 palettes all about expressing your presence and personality. Each palette contains 8 eyeshadows and one highlighter. I received a sample of the Basic Bitch palette* and today I’ll be sharing my review & swatches as well as an overview of the other palettes in the collection.
The MAC Basic Bitch palette is predominately made up of cool, smoky tones in greys, silver, and some pops of color like a dark reddish burgundy in the shade Hells in Heels. It’s very sleek, compact and opens up to a sizable mirror although it doesn’t prop itself up. The highlighter is the largest pan in the palette while the other shadows have pans that vary in size, which makes for a fun layout.

I found the shades to be on par with the existing MAC shadows I have in my collection. They are creamy and pigmented (Sly Girl & Tattle Tale especially) and the color options contained within are very complementary to one another. The only shadow that did not swatch that well was Gameplayer, however using my brush I did not have an issue and it was workable thereafter. This palette is great for a basic smoky eye if you are on the hunt for one and I truly think that these shadows can help you create looks that are basic and not so basic. I like that the two foil shades contained within (Sly Girl & Tattle Tale can take you from basic to next level gorgeousness. I found that the highlighter provided a very soft glow that is not over the top. Clearly, it has won me over. Below you will find an overview of the other palettes available. I took images of them while visiting a MAC store. They were testers, so forgive me if the images are not pristine.
