Happy New Year’s Eve! Today is the last day of 2017 and I wanted to make sure I included the beautiful MAC x Patrick Starrr Collection before year’s end. Makeup guru Patrick Starrr is such a huge inspiration to many. His “Makeup is a one-size-fits all” philosophy certainly reflects his new collection with M·A·C which features color essentials that could easily work for just about anybody. I was lucky to have the opportunity to attend the launch event in Los Angeles earlier this month. It was truly wonderful seeing him speak about how his work has come full circle. (Patrick was once a makeup artist for M·A·C before his road to stardom) Today I am going to be sharing everything from the collection. In a nutshell, it’s love!
Let’s first discuss packaging. The packaging is stunning and gives major holiday feels. Everything is dressed up in silver and white along with his sparkling holographic signature.
The collection includes two eyeshadow quads, Glam AF and Goal Getter. Both palettes features 3 popular shades from M·A·C ‘s permanent eyeshadow lineup as well as one exclusive Patrick Starrr creation. I find the colors to be very rich, buttery and pigmented. The shades also compliment each other very well and can create looks that take you from day to night.
The Glam AF Palette includes Brule, Saddle, Embark and Omigaud (new shade)
The Goal Getter Palette includes Amber Lights, Swiss Chocolate, Soft Brown, and I’m Into It (new shade)
Now onto the lip offerings, which come in a corresponding trio of lipsticks, lip liners and lip glass shades. The shade selection in this collection could work for just about anyone. You get a vibrant red, a soft pink, as well as a beautiful nude. Whether you prefer more matte lips or a glossy one, the collection has you covered.
She Betta Werrrk (matte) – soft pink
Patrick Woo (matte) – deep yellow red
Mama Starrr (satin) – reddish brown
The corresponding lipliners are actually part of their permanent lineup but they come in the special limited edition packaging.
Edge to Edge (mid tone pink)-best paired with She Betta Werrrk
Mahogany (intense reddish brown)-best paired with Mama Starr
Brick (intense golden red) -best paired with Patrick Woo
I adore the shade selection. All three shades look beautiful on my golden medium complexion and I look forward to putting them to good use. In terms of my recommendations, it would depend on your color preference. I would, however advise you to pick up the lipsticks and lip glasses first since the lipliners are already part of the permanent collection.
Last but not least, I want to discuss the “Starrr” of the collection, Patrick’s Powder. Patrick is well known in the beauty community for “baking.” This was the first thing that caught my attention when images of it surfaced online and I am happy to report that I am completely obsessed! It looks like it’s somewhat tinted but it has a nice translucent finish. It feels very soft, silky, and smooth. It’s like a magic veil that transforms my skin into a beautiful soft, matte finish. It is currently sold out on the M·A·C website, but you can still find it right now at Macy’s and Nordstrom
Overall, I am very impressed with the collection. You get your everyday, classic shades with a fun Patrick Starrr twist. The stand out must have item is the setting powder . I will be purchasing a back up of this one. I think the collection is truly phenomenal and I am happy that M·A·C ventured into collaborating with a beauty guru that has inspired so many.
