Smashbox Cosmetics released a collection of seven Cover Shot Eyeshadow Palettes* inspired by trends seen at the studio, ranging from matte, to smoky, to bold. These palettes are purse size and perfectly compact for travel and fits easily inside your makeup bag. They are small, yet mighty and certainly pack a punch! There are a total of 8 shades in each Cover Shot palette, with two larger base shades so you won't run out of the basics before using all the accent colors.
Each palette is priced at $29 and today I have 5 of the 7 Cover shot palettes to share with you. Each travel-size palette measures 0.27 oz/ 7.65 g (4.46W x 2.44D x 0.45H). I purchased Ablaze when it first became available online, and I've been using it heavily in my makeup rotation ever since. You can read my full review here. I am happy to report that the quality and pigmentation of each palette is amazing. Often I find that some palettes can either have great mattes, but lack lack luster shimmers or vice versa. It is not the case with the Cover Shot palettes. The mattes are pigmented, smooth and blendable, while the shimmer finishes are almost cream like to the touch. As you will see below, the swatches were taken with just one swatch of my finger. Kindly scroll below for palette descriptions and details.
Ablaze (hot, desert-inspired shades): With shades in rich red clay and hot terra cotta, this palette captures the warmth of the desert in a range of sun-drenched shades—these dimensional pigments are perfect for adding depth and contouring.
Bold (transformative and electrifying): It includes electrifying colors and transformers to make eyeshadows really pop with an array of highly-pigmented, myriad of saturated, standout shades.
Softlight (soft-focus, wearable shimmers): The ultra-flattering hues include champagne and rosé-inspired colors to highlight the eyes with low-level shimmer for a subtle shine that goes on smoothly for a glowing look.
Smoky (effortless and modern): Perfect for creating a smoky eye, these mid-to-darker tones amp up intensity with a blend of matte, low-shimmers, and high-shimmer shades.
I'm really impressed with the Cover Shot Eyeshadow palettes. Though they are compact, each pan is large enough for my eyeshadow brush and there are so many endless possibilities in terms of the looks you can create. My two favorites are Ablaze and Golden Hour while Smoky comes in third. I'm really impressed with the color range and quality of Smashbox's latest offerings. The next palette on my list from this line is the Metallic one! Each Smashbox Covershot Eyeshadow Palette is priced at $29 USD and is currently sold online at Sephora here. Which one do you have your eyes on?
