Hello Everyone! Happy New Year! I cannot believe that it’s the beginning of 2018. I am wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous year ahead filled with special moments and memories and of course, more makeup. As you can probably tell from the title, today I will be sharing my top 2017 Makeup Favorites. It was really hard to narrow it down and I decided to pick out the most reached for makeup products that I used this year, all of which were released in 2017 with the exception of a few. Read on for the details.
Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette– The warm eyeshadow trend seemed to be everywhere this year. As someone who has always enjoyed wearing warm hues of warm browns and neutrals, I absolutely fell in love with this palette. I reached for it quite often this year. I love the combination of pigment rich shades in both matte and shimmer finishes that helped me create looks for both day and night. It’s my favorite Naked Palette of them all!
Becca Cosmetics Sunlit Bronzer in Bronzed Bondi – This was a major hit for for me this year. It gives a very natural sun kissed bronze that gives just the right amount of warmth and depth. I can use to slightly contour my face. The bronzer features Becca’s iconic Shimmering Skin Perfector formula so there is some noticeable shimmer in the pan that translates to a very soft & healthy bronzy glow for the face. My full review and swatches here.
MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour– * I am a huge fan of liquid lipsticks for their staying power and impressive coverage. The newly reformulated MAC Liquid lipstick formulas has become one of my favorite liquid lipsticks formulas. It has a lightweight texture that applies smoothly and evenly and dries down to a matte finish within minutes. The shade range has also expanded, you can find some existing shades reviewed here and here. They also recently launched their new MAC Retro Matte Metallic Liquid Lipcolors I will share swatches of the ones I received soon!
Fresh Beauty Sugar Lip Treatment in Honey– *I am the type of person that cannot go a day with bare lips. My lips are so accustomed to having something on, that they can easily get chapped fast. I have been a fan of Fresh Beauty’s Sugar Lip Treatment for several years. It helps to nourish, smooth, and protect my lips with SPF 15. This year I fell in love with the shade Honey. It’s a beautiful warm nude that gives the perfect MLBB effect and it’s been my go-to ever since.
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Primer– I am on my third bottle of this primer! It helps to smooth the canvas of my skin prior to foundation application and makes my skin feel SO soft. It’s enriched with four nourishing oils—corn oil, apricot kernel oil, passiflora oil, and rice bran oil. The primer is suspended in golden shimmer which I find gives a beautiful touch of subtle luminosity and radiance.
Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Long Wear Foundation-*This foundation was introduced to me exactly one year ago and I reached for it time and time again this year when I wanted to achieve a full coverage base. It has the same technology as the Luminous Silk Foundation, another favorite, that provides a thin and light texture, with immense staying power that makes my skin look flawless. Full review here.
Jouer Cosmetics Essential High Coverage Foundation– * This is another foundation that has been on heavy rotation. I am so impressed with the coverage, longevity and the fusion of makeup + skincare infused in this bottle. It’s a highly concentrated formula, so a little truly goes a long way Thanks to hyaluronic acid, it’s been perfect to help maintain moisture to my skin, especially now that it’s winter. Read my full review with swatches here.
Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara– Two coats is all I need to give length, volume and definition to my short, barely there eyelashes. I love the carbon black formula. See a before and after and my full review here.
Marc Jacobs Eye Conic Palette in Scandalust– *This year Marc Jacobs Beauty relaunched their 7 pan Eye Conic Palettes. This palette has been a favorite of mine this year. It has an array of warm tones that I adore and an impressive range of finishes that are complementary to one another. Each shade is buttery, pigmented and blends beautifully! I love that it includes the deeper shade Little Miss to not only deepen and intensify my crease but also to add a more smoldering effect. I have swatches of all seven Eye Conic palettes here.
Yves Saint Laurent All Hours Concealer– One makeup item that I cannot live without is concealer. This concealer helps to immediately rid me of my dark circles, helps to brighten up the under eye area and make me look well rested. It has a lightweight, thin consistency that blends beautifully. It doesn’t settle into fine lines nor does it crease. This was another great product discovery from YSL Beauty this year.
Pat Mc Grath Matte Trance/ Luxe Trance Lipsticks– This was literally love at first swipe. I discovered her range of lipsticks while on a short trip to San Francisco this summer. The pigmentation is insane! The opaque coverage, coupled with the smooth creamy formula makes it nothing short of amazing. I have since picked up more shades. See my full review and swatches here.
Becca Cosmetics x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette– This was hands down my most reached for face palette this year, reviewed here. Every shade compliments my medium golden skin tone just perfectly and the Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector highlighter formula ranks as one of THE best highlighter formulas on the market, in my humble opinion.
Yves Saint Laurent Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain– Last but not least, this was another fantastic beauty discovery in the lipstick category. I purchased three shades, reviewed here. It’s lightweight, non drying and settles into a beautiful stain by day’s end. I’ve been recommending this to people who normally don’t like liquid lipstick formulas because it truly is amazing and does not even feel moderately drying as some liquid lipstick formulas do. Nude Emblem, a terra cotta pink is my favorite shade in the range. I get tons of compliments when I wear it.
