The most beautiful Rose Gold collection to ever drop landed on my doorstep a few weeks ago. The limited edition *Smashbox x Vlada Collection, now available at Sephora and Ulta is dipped in rose gold perfection. It was co-created with Smashbox’s lip editor-in-chief Vlada Haggerty. You can find her artistically stunning looks on her Instagram page, @vladamua. The collection was inspired by Vlada’s love for her signature shade. What you get is a swoon worthy collection for the face, eyes, lips, and body and today I’m excited to share swatches and details of everything in the collection.
“Each product can be worn alone or layered for a complete rose-gold look. The beauty of these shades is they don’t compete or create a dull, monochromatic effect. Instead, they complement every skin tone and together build beautiful layers of pink that add warmth, radiance and a bouquet of boldness to your look.”—Vlada Haggerty, Makeup Artist and Smashbox Lip Editor-In-Chief
There was certainly a lot of oohs and aahs as I was opening up each box. The entire collection includes:
Petal Metal Primer, $39
Always On Petal Metal Liquid Lipstick, $24
Cover Shot: Petal Metal Palette, $29
Be Legendary Petal Metal Liquid Lip, $24
Petal Metal Shimmer Drops, $32
Petal Metal Shimmer Spray, $39
Petal Metal Highlighter
First up is the Petal Metal Highlighter. It’s a collection of gel powder highlighters that are smooth to the touch, with a velvety formula that provides beautiful luminosity. It can be applied both wet and dry. The rose petal embossing is absolutely stunning! Each highlighter features a clear base formula that allows for the purest possible reflection of light with a super-smooth feel that won’t emphasize uneven skin texture. This formula is available in three brilliant finishes that can be used on both the face and eyes.
Rosemantic – soft rust with gold pearl
Gilded Rose – gold with pink/gold pearl
Prismatic Pearl – iridescent rose gold
Cover Shot Petal Metal Eye Shadow Palette
This curated eyeshadow palette has a mix of both metallics and silky mattes. The palette was inspired by Vlada’s signature shade as well as makeup trends seen and shot at Smashbox’s L.A. studio. In terms of pigmentation, they are just as amazing as the other cover shot palettes I own, fully reviewed and swatched here.
You get eight eyeshadows: Floral Support, Fresh Stem, Opal Rose, Rose Quartz, Rose Rocked, XO,Vlada, Coffee Blossom, Nude Rose.
There are two long wearing liquid eyeliners in the collection. They come with a felt-tip precision tip to allow for ultimate control and sets to a satin-shimmer finish quickly. I find it easy to glide the liner across (no skipping) and the precision tip makes it easy to create a cat eye. It’s water resistant and doesn’t smudge. It comes in two shades:
Black Rose – black with rose gold pearl
24k Rose – metallic rose gold pearl
Always On Petal Metal Liquid Lipstick
The collection also includes six different shade offerings for the lips in two formulas. First is the Always On Petal Metal Liquid Lipsticks. It’s a long wearing eight-hour wear metallic matte liquid lipstick specifically formulated to feel light and to stay put. It is described as having an advanced Polymer Technology formula that includes a primer oil complex that prevents it from drying. I love the formula of these. It has a short pointed tip that gives me precision and control.
Shades:
XO, Vlada – metallic bronze warm gold
In Bloom – mauve with mauve-silver pearl
Desert Rose – copper with copper pearl
Be Legendary Petal Metal Liquid Lip
The other three lip shade offerings are in the Be Legendary Liquid Lipstick formula. It’s a metallic liquid lipstick that glides on the full coverage of a liquid lipstick and the high-impact shine of a lip gloss. It’s a creamy, opaque liquid gel formula with a reflective chrome finish. It has a cone shaped applicator that allows you to easily deposit it into the center of the lips for added dimension though you can still apply it all over. I adore the formula and previously reviewed and swatched all shades in the collection here.
Shades:
Petal Metal – metallic rose gold
Rose Magic – metallic rust rose gold
XO, Vlada – metallic bronze warm gold
Smashbox has the #1 primer in the US so it’s no surprise that they also made a primer offering for this collection. The Smashbox x Vlada Petal Metal Primer is housed in the most beautiful packaging I’ve seen of all their primer offerings, see the complete collection reviewed here. The primer is described as a super-hydrating highlighting face primer that illuminates, perfects and enhances radiance with a subtle rose-gold glow.
Benefits via Ulta’s website:
- Loaded with hyaluronic acid and shea butter for instant hydration and all-day moisture
- 4K, high-definition spheres blur the look of pores, fine lines and imperfections
- Micro-fine rose gold pearls create a warm lit-from-within glow and magic-hour radiance
- Evens the look of your skin tone and preps the complexion for makeup application
- Doubles as a targeted highlighter over makeup
If there’s one thing that Smashbox does right, it is their primer formulas. The original Photo Finish primer was a staple of mine for many years and I love the luminosity that this new addition imparts. I will likely keep the bottle as a keepsake when I’m done because it it truly unique and one- of-a-kind.
The Petal Metal Shimmer Drops are are liquid shimmer in a bottle. It acts as both a weightless sparkle topper for lipsticks or as a shimmering liquid highlighter for face. It doesn’t feel gritty or chunky. It feels weightless and the dropper dispenses just the right amount. It comes in tow shades:
Rose Glitz – rose gold shimmer
Gold Glitz – champagne shimmer
The Petal Metal Shimmer spray is described as a lightweight, illuminating body and face mist that provides a lasting, dewy, rose-gold glow. You can use is to prep skin for makeup application or to set and refresh the makeup through out the day. The light reflecting pearls in the formula provide luminosity to the skin that isn’t overdone which is what I like about the spray. The rose gold bottle sits beautifully on any makeup vanity.
I absolutely adore the collection. At times it can be easy to get caught up with the packaging of a makeup product. The question that really matters is whether it performs. You’re simply not just getting pretty packaging with this collection. You get high performance formulas that are universally flattering. If you are a lover of the Rose Gold hue, than this is one not to miss since the products in the collection are limited edition.
The Smashbox x Vlada Collection is now available at Sephora, Ulta, and Smashbox.com. If I were to choose my favorites of the collection, it would be the Petal Metal Highlighters, Petal Metal Cover Shot Palette, and the Petal Metal Be Legendary Liquid Lipstick. This collection is truly what makeup dreams are made of. What do you have your sights set on?
xx,
Dom
