It’s been a month since a stay-at-home order was issued in our state. I’m slowly but surely settling into a new routine and doing my best to adapt to this new normal. While I miss my family and friends, I know that this scary situation is temporary. I’m so grateful that we can be in the safety of our homes, because let’s face it, it could be a lot worse.
I’m still working remotely from home and although it has kept me busy, I’m finding extra time to do more of the things that I enjoy. It’s been a long time since my last blog post, and now that I have a little extra time on my hands, I hope to make more of a concerted effort to blog. Playing with makeup, carving out a few minutes daily for a proper skincare routine, and writing/ journaling has always been therapeutic for me. With that being said, let’s dive into some recent lipstick launches for Spring, including new lipsticks I hauled last month.

Perhaps one of the most anticipated luxury lipstick launches for Spring is a collection of 24 new lipsticks from Hermes. The Rouge Hermes Collection comes in two different textures: matte and satin. They are luxe and weighty and the reusable metal casing looks like a high- end fashion accessory that would sit beautifully on any makeup vanity. It even comes with a canvas pouch that fits perfectly inside the iconic orange box. I purchased the shade Rose Velours #78 which I would describe as a medium raspberry- pink. It applied very smoothly and the pointed bullet tip made for a very precise application. Formula-wise, it has a rich, creamy, non -drying texture. I was able to achieve even opacity with just one swipe. In terms of lasting power, I was able to achieve 5 hours of wear. It is rather pricy, however, the lipstick is refillable. This would make a beautiful gift to splurge on yourself or for any beauty lover.

Last month, I attended the temporary Gucci Beauty Pop Up on Melrose Ave in West Hollywood. The pop-up coincided with the launch of the new Gucci Beauty L’Obscur mascara and its launch inside select Sephora locations. I had the opportunity to swatch and try out the many lipstick shades in the range and purchased three shades in varying formulas:
Love Before Breakfast-cranberry pink (matte)
Mora Siena-siena raspberry (satin)
The Painted Veil -rosewood (sheer)

The formula+packaging is top notch. I am really impressed with the new reformulation, and look forward to see what new products are in works.

Who doesn’t love a good nude, am I right? I also rounded up some of my go to nudes at the moment in varying formulas. The YSL lipstick formula is exceptional. I have been a long time favorite and I’ve included two different lipstick shades in this post, see my previous blog post here for more details. Names and swatches to follow below.
Huda Beauty Prom Night Matte Power Bullet -Pretty biscuit pink
KKW Beauty Nude Creme Lipstick #3– Mid tone terracota
