A new addition to the Natasha Denona line launching tomorrow at Sephora and Beautylish is the Sunset Eyeshadow Palette, a gorgeous array of shadows aptly named and inspired by the colors of the sunset. Natasha Denona is an internationally acclaimed makeup artist who is well known for creating remarkably beautiful looks prominently seen on the covers of many of today’s magazines. I have been a fan of her line of eye shadows since my first introduction to her brand at IMATS, previously reviewed here.

For as long as I can remember, I have always used some sort of base before applying foundation. In my teenage years, I only wore powder foundation, the kind that came in a compact, so prepping my skin with moisturizer was something that seemed to suffice at the time. Once I was introduced to primer in my early twenties, it quickly became an essential product in my makeup routine. In addition to now using targeted serums and moisturizers to prep my skin for the day, primer is the next step that follows. Just as primer ensures better adhesion of paint to the surface, makeup primer acts as a base to ‘smooth out my canvas’ before ‘painting my face’. Not only does primer help to smooth out pores before the application of makeup, it also helps to prolong makeup wear. Imagine my delight a couple of weeks ago when a generous collection of the Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Primers were kindly sent over for review.
Tom Ford’s Soleil Collection is now available and today I have photos and swatches to share of one stunning and irresistible piece from the collection: The Tom Ford Reflects Gilt Sheer Highlighting Duo. I am truly in anticipation of the arrival of Spring. I yearn for warmer weather, the beautiful blooms that will abound and the longer daylight hours. Though summer is usually synonymous with “getting your glow on“, I think it’s safe to say that using a highlighter year round has become the norm for makeup lovers— every season, and all year round.
Smashbox Cosmetics released a collection of seven Cover Shot Eyeshadow Palettes* inspired by trends seen at the studio, ranging from matte, to smoky, to bold. These palettes are purse size and perfectly compact for travel and fits easily inside your makeup bag. They are small, yet mighty and certainly pack a punch! There are a total of 8 shades in each Cover Shot palette, with two larger base shades so you won’t run out of the basics before using all the accent colors.
Pixi Beauty recently launched a new and exciting collaboration with four leading beauty and lifestyle gurus called the Pixipretties Collection.* Each beauty influencer was tasked to create their “dream” beauty products that not only represent their individual points of view but parallel Pixi’s philosophy of fuss-free in a few minutes. I could not contain my excitement upon opening the box and I am thrilled to be sharing photos, details and swatches for you today. I hope that those of you who do not have Pixi Beauty products readily available at your local Target will find this helpful. All the items from the #Pixipretties collection is limited edition, so I would act fast!
MAC’s latest Viva Glam Campaign is in collaboration with actress Taraji P. Henson, and includes a new signature lipstick shade along with a matching lipglass. If you are not familiar with the Viva Glam campaign, every cent from the selling price of M·A·C VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass goes towards helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. It’s a great cause, and MAC has since raised over 400 million dollars to date! There have been many collaborations with well known celebrities over the years, and I was truly excited about this launch. I am a fan of Taraji’s work–Empire fans, anyone? I truly think the shade in this latest launch is universally flattering and could work for just about everyone.
Today I’m excited to share the newly released MAC Year of the Rooster Collection for Chinese New Year.* This year is significant to me personally, and I could not help but swoon over the stunning, festive decorative outer packaging which features vibrant red and gold packaging, a symbol of Chinese wealth and prosperity along with velvety black flocked accents.
The International Makeup Artist Trade Show, better known as IMATS recently wrapped up this weekend in Pasadena, California. I had the pleasure of attending on Saturday. Shortly, I will be sharing with you a post brimming with images from the event. The event is open to both makeup professionals as well as students and makeup enthusiasts from all over. Those in attendance not only had the opportunity to fill their kit with essentials at a generously discounted rate, but they also had the opportunity to explore and learn from business forums and keynotes. This was my fifth time attending the show, and I truly had an amazing time. Kindly scroll below for more images and details.
Smashbox Cosmetics recently launched a collection of seven portable Cover Shot Eyeshadow palettes, with a variety of colors to choose from. Each palette is priced at $29 and they range from sophisticated, bold, and to metallic. I really did not need another palette, but the colors in the Ablaze Cover Shot Palette really spoke to me. I could not resist, and quickly placed an order online. Besides, I was able to apply my Sephora $25 appreciation gift card towards it. I’m happy to report that I’m so glad I did!.
