Chanel released an assortment of beautiful items from their fall and limited edition collection lately, and today I’d like to share the most recent additions I’ve made. These purchases were made a little at a time and over the course of two months. Now that I’ve had a reasonable amount of time to test and play with the shades, I’d like to share my overall thoughts on each item.
Update: This shadow dried up in the pot. First up is the Chanel New Moon Illusion d’ Ombre Eyeshadow. This particular shade was sold out at many Chanel counters I visited when it was initially released. Once it was back in stock at my local counter, I picked it up. I don’t own many cream shadows to begin with. I’m more of an eyeshadow palette type of gal, however after seeing it pop up so many times on my Instagram feed and given its popularity, I decided to give it a try. The color is a warm brown with a glittery finish. Officially, it’s described as an “intensely shimmering long-wear eyeshadow with an innovative gel texture that is both soft and cushiony.” It includes a small shadow and liner brush to use specifically for the formula. I am in love with the color and the texture of this particular color. I’ve been applying the shadow with my fingers solely and it imparts a gorgeous warm shimmer that beautifully takes the eyes to center stage. It feels velvety to the touch and is smooth and easy to apply. A little truly goes a long way so I would recommend that you apply with a light hand.
The second color I picked up was the Illusion d’ Ombre shadow in the color Illusoire, a smoky light gray shade that also imparts a shimmery finish. This shade did not feel as velvety and smooth as my previous application with New Moon. I swatched it maybe once or twice before the time of this shoot (pictured above) and I was dismayed to find that it dried up a little in the center. The lid was sealed tightly after use, so I’m uncertain whether this happened as a result of the formula in the make up of this particular color or if it was somehow any fault of my own. I would like to add that my New Moon Illusion d’ Ombre shadow was also swatched previously before the time of the shoot and once opened, it still looked new and fairly unused.
Here are swatches of both colors in natural daylight. Illusoire is on the left and New Moon is on the right. Overall, I am pleased with the color payoff and my selection of these two shades. They are versatile, wear comfortably throughout the day and add a beautiful touch to the eyes. Of the two, I would highly recommend New Moon because I think it is a universally flattering shade that can not only be layered to build the intensity that you desire but provides such an incredibly gorgeous shimmer.
Next, I picked up the Alezane Joues Contraste blush. It was love at first swipe. I would describe it as a warm terracotta brown with a bit of rose and golden shimmer. It has a heavy fragrant floral scent that is typically found in their line of blushes so if you are sensitive to scents, this may not be for you. The blush was remarkably pigmented and silky to the touch. It imparts a beautiful warmth and radiance to my cheeks and is very flattering on my skin tone. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase.
Finally, I picked up the Chanel Infiniment Highlighting powder. It is officially described as a “shimmering peach-pink shade.” This powder is embossed with the interlocking double C’s in the middle of the pan which seemingly appear stitched in. It is quite a sight to behold and a part of me did not want my brush to disturb this gorgeous work of art! The colors are beautiful swirled together. The powders are incredibly finely milled and impart a very subtle shimmer. On my first trial run, I placed the powder on the top of my cheekbones. It provided a very natural, barely there finish. Compared to many other highlighters I own, I would say that this is more of a soft powder than it is a highlighter. Nonetheless, it is beautiful to the touch and if you’re looking for something very subtle, this is for you. If you’re looking for a more intense highlight, however, this is something you would probably pass.

Overall, I am happy with all my recent Chanel additions. The Illusion d’ Ombre shadows are versatile and can be worn both day and night and built up to the intensity you desire. Additionally, they are easy to wear and impart a gorgeous shimmer on the eyelids. The Alezane Joues Contraste blush is incredibly pigmented, adds warmth and dimension to my face as well as a hint of golden shimmer. It truly is a beautiful shade that I will reach for often this fall. Finally, the Infiniment Highlighting powder is a one-of-a kind piece that can make its way to any makeup junkies heart, given its stunning design.
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you found it to be informative. What are some other Chanel items on your radar?
