Erborian Skincare Therapy: Yuza Sorbet & Bamboo Creme Frappee

Todays’ blog post will feature products that I have been incorporating into my skincare routine  for over a month now from Erborian, a Korean-French hybrid skincare brand that blends traditional Korean ingredients with modern French luxury. The line is founded on the principles of Korean herbology, fusing potent ingredients such as ginseng, bamboo, and matcha green tea with high tech cosmetic engineering–hence the company’s ethos, “tradition meets innovation.”

First up is  the the Yuza Sorbet Featherweight Emulsion.* If you are not familiar with the term emulsion, an emulsion is like a light weight moisturizer and this one fits bill. It has a very light texture and if you look closely at the image below, you can see tiny microcapsules. These microcapsules contain antioxidant properties to nourish and help boost skin radiance. Some of the key ingredients are Yuza, an ancient citrus fruit known for its antioxidant properties as well as sesame oil, almond oil, and honey extracts, ingredients that soften, hydrate and nourish the skin. I found this moisturizer to work well for the day and applied it after my daytime serum. It absorbs quickly into the skin and I adore the fresh citrus scent. Since it’s such a lightweight moisturizer, I can still follow up with my SPF cream afterwards— it’s a combination that feels just right, not too thick nor heavy for the application of makeup afterwards. I have noticed that my skin looks more radiant, supple, and smooth after one month of use.

Yuza Sorbet Featherweight Emulsion is a daily solution to help fight visible signs of aging and provide nourishment to the skin. The lightweight cream features 13 plant extracts and plant oils to help skin feel protected against environmental aggressors. Known throughout Asia for its antioxidant properties, yuza is a citrus fruit grown on the tropical Jeju Island in South Korea. It also contains antioxidant-rich licorice extract, soothing and hydrating honey extract, and nourishing sesame oil and sweet almond oil to help moisturize the skin. Skin appears more radiant and stronger.

Next up is the Bamboo Creme Frappee*, a gel cream that immediately has a nice, cooling effect when applied to the skin. If you are into scents, this creme smells amazing and definitely induces an aromatherapeutic feel. On the days where my skin has felt drier in some areas–I tend to get drier spots around my mouth and nose– I’ve used this in place of the Yuza Sorbet Emulsion for an extra boost of hydration. It immediately leaves my skin feeling refreshed and feels nicely hydrated throughout the day.

This energizing gel-cream moisturizer helps skin feel refreshed and invigorated. The lightweight, whipped frosty texture absorbs quickly, helping skin appear smoother and softer. Erborian’s unique Bamboo Waterlock complex combines bamboo sap and fibers to help hydrate skin and lock in moisture.

The Yuza Sorbet Night* contains the same key ingredients as the Yuza Sorbet Featherweight Emulsion except that this cream has a thicker consistency as with most night creams I’ve used. It’s described as a nighttime recharge cream enriched with Yuza and 12 plant extracts, butters, and oils to help fight visible signs of aging while you sleep. It also contains Shea Butter which helps to nourish the skin. The night cream truly feels amazing. I apply the cream after a light application of my night time serum and I wake up to smooth and clear baby soft skin. Lately, I’ve been receiving compliments about how nice and smooth my skin looks. I’m very impressed with this cream.

Last but not least is the Eborian BB Cream* with SPF 20. The BB cream is enriched with Ginseng which claims to moisturize, visibly plump and even out the complexion. There are two variations available, Clair is for fair to light skintones and Dore is for more medium to tan skin tones. I use the BB Cream in Dore. It has a nice velvety texture and blends beautifully into the skin without leaving any sort of white cast from the SPF it contains. I’ve used the BB cream in my makeup rotation a few times now, and it’s really great to wear as a light everyday base—think hot summer days and minimal makeup with much needed SPF protection. It doesn’t settle into any lines, helps to even out my skin tone and lasts for a good 6 hours which is a plus. A swatch of it to follow below.

I am very pleased with my introduction to the Erborian line. I appreciate that the line infuses traditional Korean ingredients in an innovative way. The two stand out products for me were the Yuza Sorbet creams for both day and night. My skin truly feels nourished, smooth, and radiant and I would recommend you check these products out during your next visit to Sephora.
