For those who prefer timeless glamour to all-out flash, matte reigns supreme. M∙A∙C introduces a twist on this classic texture with robustly saturated shades of Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour. Whichever shade you choose, all promise one thing: a splash of colour in a liquid-suede finish that is impossible to forget.-via MAC Cosmetics’ website
I adore the packaging. I love that it comes in a tube that has a black, bullet shaped cap that is similar to the packaging from their range of lipsticks. I find that the doe-foot applicator wand is at a perfect length, not too long nor short which allows me to apply the liquid lipstick with more precision. It also has a pointed tip which also helps me to line my lips.

When swatched, all the colors were pigmented and opaque and dried down to soft matte finish. The only shade that I found to swatch a little streaky was Young Attitude, however on my lips I did not experience the same problem. I remember purchasing a few colors when they first launched last year, reviewed here. The shades that I wore from the first launch felt moderately drying as most liquid lipsticks do, however, I think that there has been an improvement in the formulation of this launch. It has a lightweight texture. It applies smoothly and evenly, and dries down to a matte finish within minutes. The pigmentation is impressive and I get beautiful opaque coverage. It also stays on for hours without feathering. I did notice slight fading in the center after eating, but other than that, the lipstick stays intact. In fact, it was a bit of a pain to take off some of the shades when I was swatching them because they really do stay put! I also can’t speak for every single shade, however the shades that I wore all day include Burnt Spice, Topped with Brandy, and Carnivorous, and the performance and consistency were very good.
If I had to choose a few favorites it would be Burnt Spice, Topped with Brandy, So Me and Carnivorous. Some of the colors did not complement my golden medium skin tone as well as others and made me look a bit washed out, however, I definitely think there is a shade in the range that you can find that will work for you. There is a color for everyone to fall in love with and it is definitely worth a try. The MAC Retro Matte Liquid lipsticks retail for $21 each and can be found at MAC retail locations as well as Macys, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and their official website.
