BASE & FOUNDATION
This must be the month of foundation launches! I’ve been testing several formulas over the past month. The * Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer comes in a newly improved formula with added skincare benefits and more sun protection. This is the perfect everyday base and a summer staple. It’s lightweight, hydrating and helps to immediately even out my skin tone and leaves my skin looking fresh and radiant. It provides the perfect amount of coverage if you want a natural makeup look. I am in the shade Olive, and though it seemingly swatches darker below, it is a tinted moisturizer that blends into my skin seamlessly.
I picked up the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Long Wear Foundation in the shade 220, light medium with yellow undertones. It is described as a hydrating, long-wear foundation with medium-to-full coverage in a natural finish and I would say this description is accurate. I like how airy and lightweight it feels compared to the Pro File’r soft matte foundation, reviewed here. The packaging makes it easy to toss in my makeup bag and take it with me to work, and it’s already made its way into my Sephora Love List.
If you’re looking for a full coverage foundation that feels amazingly lightweight with serious staying power, I would recommend the new *Urban Decay Stay Naked foundation, fully reviewed here. You truly get a natural matte finish that is buildable without having to sacrifice cover.

Finally, one of the most anticipated launches is the Pat Mc Grath Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection I picked up the shade Medium 15. How would I describe this? If MAC Face & Body and Luminous Silk had a baby, then this would be it. It has a silky, weightless formula that provides amazing coverage with tremendous lasting power. I had it on for 10+ hours and it was still going strong by night’s end. I would also like to add that it provides a satin skin finish. It seems to start off matte when initially applied but throughout the day will become more dewy with a soft focus finish. It is pricier than the average foundation and if you’re thinking of getting it, this would be an opportune time to save!

LIP & CHEEK PRODUCTS

I had been eyeing the Pat Mc Grath Mini Lip Fetish Lip Balm Trio for a while. I’m a sucker for minis and also purchased the other two Mini Mattetrance lipstick trios earlier this year. Not only is the formula top notch, the performance is stellar. Pat Mc Grath lipsticks have quickly become a favorite of mine, I especially like how creamy and beautifully pigmented the matte trance formula is. The balms provide a ‘my lips but better look’ and are deeply hydrating and nourishing. Another natural hue that provides exceptional color payoff is the *Blitztrance Lipstick in Skinsane. Finally, if you’re looking for an effortless pinky nude shade, I would recommend Chelsea Girls, which is a new lipstick launch from NARS for their 25th anniversary. I have 30+ shades swatched in my previous post here.

For cheek products, I picked up the new Fenty Beauty Match Stix Shimmer Skin Stix in Beach Bum & the Dior Glow Backstage Face Palette. I’ve been experimenting more with cream products lately. Although I prefer face powders for blush, I swatched this gorgeous radiant peach shade in store and couldn’t resist. I was really impressed with the formula of the original Dior Glow Face Palette that I purchased over a year ago, and decided to pick up this version which contains more golden champagne shades.

The Too Faced Shake Your Palm Palm Palette was something I encountered during the check out line. I own several mini palettes from Too Faced and they do not disappoint. While waiting in line I swatched the tester in store and the green olive shade sold me. I like the mix of colors in this palette and think this would make an amazing travel palette. Swatches below.

SKINCARE, HAIRCARE, FRAGRANCE

I am a fan of Olaplex hair products and picked up the Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil. I have high expectations for it and will keep you posted. Additionally, I picked up the Tatcha The Ritual For Radiant Skin Set. I had always wanted to try the Vitamin C Brightening Serum which is pricy at $88 alone. This set was certainly a steal. Priced at $90 before the 20% discount, I not only get some of my skincare favorites from Tatcha, I also get to try something new. The new *Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Mask and Avocado Eye Mask have been used on numerous occasions thus far and first impressions are good. My skin feels hydrated, nourished and appears more rested the following morning. Finally, the new* YSL Libre Eau De Parfum is quite intoxicating. It’s a warm floral with notes of lavender essence, orange blossom, musk accord. It’s sensual, feminine, and the black and gold bottle is so luxurious to the touch.
This wraps up my Sephora haul, my thoughts on some recent launches and my recommendations. Is there anything here on your list? The sale will run through August 27th both online and in store using the code SUMMERSAVE.
